The conventional stop smoking medicine is the one which usually prescribed by a doctor to use with other smoking cessation therapies, which shows that it cannot work alone. This is chemical base. Alternative stop smoking medicine is totally natural, formulated traditionally from developed herbs. Alternative stop smoking medicine is making its existence felt in a big way nowadays.

Actually, the conventional stop smoking medicine has been known for a long time ago. But it is developed just recently. There are many famous brands of stop smoking medicine that are prescribed to smokers such as NicVAX, Zyban, and Chantix. The general thing in all these medicine is that they are actually antidepressant, and their major part in stop smoking is to prevent depression ails from occurring in the smoker.

According to most of doctors, the effectiveness of these stop smoking medicine they prescribe is better than a placebo. The fact is, although they are antidepressant, they can make the body immune to them after a certain period of time. After that, it is only a placebo effect remains. As addition, these stop smoking medicine can only help light smokers to leave their habit, but for hard smoker, their efficacy still need a proof.

That is why doctors always prescribe their stop smoking medicine in combining with some therapy like patch. The use of nicotine patch itself is controversial, because it really contains nicotine. The effectiveness of using nicotine to counter nicotine addiction is debated, even in the medical field. Behavior therapies are also prescribed but their effectiveness is still not objective.

In some people, a total recovery process can take time until ten years. The length of the recovery time can depend on how serious is the damage that has occurred in the body.
